What? But isn't Houkou already obsessed with Eastern myth and have like a gajillion resources already?

Well... Yes, but that doesn't mean I have to exclude everything else. On the contrary, I love mythology of many flavors. East Asian mythology just happens to be what I'm already fairly familiar with. I also happen to pull a lot of ideas from the Big Book of General Fantasy too, but I'm sure I'm not shorthanded on resources for that either.

What I'm looking for today are resources that cover different mythologies than those I'm already familiar with. Gods and goddesses are not quite my thing, but tales of mortals and beasts, and the creatures spawned from myth are. Websites are preferable, although I won't completely shut you out for suggesting books, as long as I can find them locally or at least find a preview online to ascertain their content and quality. Bonus points if the resource includes authentic tales from the good ol' days to complement the rest of the material. If you have something else I'll probably really like, don't be afraid to surprise me with that, either.

If you share some good resources with me, I'll draw you a picture and love you forever! Hurray! :dummy:

I mostly favor books for my resources, with my favorite subject being Greek and Roman myths and legends. Even though there are lots of talk of deities, there are still stories in there with monsters and the like (the Argonauts, some of Hercules' tasks, Theseus and the Minotaur, and of course the adventures of Odysseus).

The Usborne series is really good; they have everything from Norse to Greek myths and have some good pictures, though they are written for a younger audience.

"Mythology" by Edith Hamilton is pretty good too.

"American Indian Mythology" ([link]) might be worth a look, though it involves a lot of people interactions, not necessarily creatures.
